The Challenge...
August in Edinburgh – It must be time for the first week of the longest but most enjoyable month of a lot of comedians lives. I decided to financially and physically challenge myself last year by doing two shows and this year I am back doing the same. Myself and the guys who I do the Mish Mash with arrived on Tuesday morning to find our accommodation description had been slightly misleading. I say slightly. I mean an almost downright lie. The sittingroom is about the size of a small kids castle that you buy in Argos and when one of us sits on the couch the only other place to sit is on the windowsill. The main problem being that your knees end up touching each other. It’s THAT small. Anyway we made peace with our new living arrangements and I set about trying to find a place to park my car for the cheapest rates in Edinburgh – Instead I got 6 parking tickets in 2 days. That has to be some kind of record for any cars in this country or any country. Thank god for the fact that I do not live in the UK and can’t possibly be prosecuted. Sssshhhhh, don’t tell anyone.
As for the shows themselves they have been lovely. People seem to like me talking about Ebay in my solo show and Scotland I don’t know what you did to deserve this weather but well done whatever it was. We have walked around sweating with the heat outside and we have stood on stages that represent the equivalent of what hell’s temperature must be like. I have lost approximately 10 pounds in sweat and have purchased 7 different types of biscuits for the Mish Mash including chocolate fingers, pink wafers, jammy dodgers, hob nobs, bourbons, custard creams and chocolate digestives. Definitely not jaffa cakes.
