SkinnyFest 3 - The Rise and Fall of Deon Vonniget

You looked really good up on stage and, even when a couple of your songs fell a bit flat, we were all still smiling.

There's something about you Deon Vonniget. I'm not sure what it is but there's definitely something. When I first saw you, I wasn't sure if I'd like you. If I'm being honest, I thought you'd be a bit naff. But then you played songs for us and told us about your life in music. We all knew that most of it was made up (you weren't in Pink Floyd) but that didn't make it any less enjoyable. Your songs really helped us get to know about your influences (Beethoven, Wogan) and about the spectacular musical journey you've been on. The one about the dangers of getting into a relationship based solely on a mutual love of cheese was both sobering and very funny. I know that hit has become a bit of an albatross for you, Deon, and that's a shame, because it really has brought a lot of joy to a lot of people. You looked really good in your punk gear up on stage and, even when a couple of your songs fell a bit flat, we were all still smiling. That's quite a gift you've got Deon.
