Peacock & Gamble Don't Even Want To Be On Telly Anyway
There's a lot of buzz about the new show from podcast heroes Peacock & Gamble
What can we expect from your show this year?
Childishness, petulance, ventriloquism, shouting, stomping about, cuddles, a bit where loads of money gets chucked about, smiles, tears, friendship and plus it is all set in a lighthouse. And political satire, probably (we’re not 100% on that bit yet).
How are you going to keep it fresh for the full three weeks?
Ray keeps it fresh by never learning his lines and just approximating them differently every show. Ed keeps it fresh by every day increasing his anger at Ray for refusing to learn his lines. Also, Ed does not really learn his lines either.
What’s your health regime for the Fringe? Which one of you is going to find it the easiest to survive?
Last year we mainly ate these little chocolate Hello Panda biscuits from the Pleasance Dome shop. It’s all change this year and we are going for a healthier regime, having just discovered they also do a strawberry flavour. Plus it is easy to get your five a day at the Fringe if you reclassify sadness as a type of fruit.
Last year’s Fringe was all about the London riots. What major news event do you think will force you to hurriedly rewrite your 2012 show?
Our show is mainly about how they will never host an Olympics in London. I can’t see us having to change that in a hurry.
Do you pay your taxes?
As far as HMRC know, we are one woman called 'Edwina Ray Gamble-Cock' who has been forced out of work due to a crippling tractor accident. Keep that quiet.
What was your favourite joke when you were a kid?
We both liked that one where the man ends up in wee at the bottom of the slide. Or the one about the kangaroo and the sheep that the answer to is woolly jumper (spoiler warning).
Who else are you hoping to see while you’re in Edinburgh?
We will go and watch Nish Kumar because he is a plucky young lad who regards us sort of as his mentors. It will be such a treat for him to be able to look out and see his heroes in the “crowd” regardless of what face we are making. And Tim Vine because we have met him in real life no messing.
