Felicity Ward's Ugly As A Child Variety Show

Article by Ariadne Cass-Maran | 24 Aug 2009

Felicity Ward was ugly as a child. She was also intelligent and geeky, and now gives us an account of what it was like for her to be afflicted with all of these features growing up in a small, backward, Australian country town.

No longer ugly, Ward is a striking looking woman, a great actress in full control of her gaunt physicality. It becomes rapidly apparent as the show progresses that Ward is batshit crazy, and who could blame her, after her upbringing? We certainly don't. This is the madness of genius. Ward occasionally fills the audience with a sense of pity and alarm, but this is balanced by the fact that she is terrifically, naturally funny.
