Edinburgh International Festival: Deep Time info

Feature by News Team | 20 Jun 2016

Further details of the Deep Time event to launch this year's Edinburgh International Festival have been revealed today.

Deep Time is a new digital artwork created by 59 Productions, the team behind last year's Harmonium Project event at the Usher Hall. The piece will feature projections cast against the side of Edinburgh Castle and Castle Rock, and aims to "transport you through 350 million years of Edinburgh’s history."

The piece is accompanied by a new soundtrack from Glasgow post-rock stalwarts Mogwai, who will also present their soundtrack to Mark Cousins' documentary Atomic in a pair of concerts at this year's Festival.

Deep Time ticket information

Tickets for the free event will be available to book via the EIF website on Monday 11 July at 10am, with a two-per-person limit. Further allocations of free tickets will be released online on Monday 1 August at 10am, with a final batch of tickets available in person from The Hub on Saturday 6 Aug at 10am.

The Standard Life Opening Event: Deep Time takes place on Sun 7 Aug at 10.30pm. The 2016 Edinburgh International Festival runs from 5-29 Aug at venues across Edinburgh; Mogwai play the Edinburgh Playhouse on 27 & 28 Aug.
