Brass Neck Fashion Show

If vintage clothes fill you with the fear of looking like a period ponce, fashion bloggers Betty & Bee are throwing a frump-destroying fashion fest to ease your anxieties and help you reach a state of pre-owned bliss. On 20 November, Glasgow's classy Hillhead Bookclub will be host to the Brass Neck fashion show. Male and female models will be sent down the runway from 8pm onwards, sporting the finest wear from vintage power houses Granny Would be Proud, We Love to Boogie, Vintage Guru, Glasgow Vintage Co, Minted and City Retro. Rather than provide a lesson in the history of the rag trade, outfits will take a humorous look at the different Glasgow style tribes: The Ned, Vintage Lover, Art School Chic, Hipster, Yah and West End Wendy. This sounds like just the job for vintage boutiques, since 80s exercise gear is flashier, vintage tweed is tweedier, and 20 year-old ironic slogans are more baffling than anything high street chains can carefully design to suit millennial tastes. Plus, why buy new boyfriend jeans or slouchy jumpers when you can find the real thing - clothes that aren’t really your size – and used to belong to people who (probably) weren’t your boyfriends?! Whether you need a coat that is experienced at keeping its owner warm and dry during a Scottish winter, want to become less reliant on the behemothic garment industry, or just want to see a yah in hand me downs, come along on the 20th!
