The Dullest Blog: Comedy ramblings to inspire the dullest moments of your week

Blog by Rosie Wilby | 13 Aug 2009

Here I am back at Edinburgh and its sunny! Already so much better than last year when my cheap flyers all dissolved in the rain and were only good for people to make models of mini creatures out of.

A lot of people have started asking why I'm covered in glitter. Foolishly I decided to close my show by bursting a balloon with glitter and sequins in it over my head. I am still investigating the best glitter removal methods but it does get everywhere. Even cucumber face wipes can’t do the job - and it’s vaguely embarrassing for a woman in her late 30s to go everywhere with glitter on her face; I don't want people to think its part of my normal make up routine. Mind you, if that were the least of my humiliations for the month I'm sure that wouldn't be a bad Edinburgh.

My show is about sex this year, but has actually turned out to be more about love and romance. I hope people won't feel cheated. But there are plenty of times you're expecting sex and you don’t get it. Me and my partner broke up during the writing of the show, so it changed tack completely and became much more poignant. Unfortunately we've managed to work things out; I can't rewrite the show again to reflect that. It’s just like when I did my first show all about being single and a failure; we then met just before Edinburgh and I felt a fraud.

Here's to a great Edinburgh 2009. May the sun keep shining.

Rosie's show, The Science of Sex, is on every day until 31st (not 17) at 6:15pm at Sweet Grassmarket.
