The Dullest Blog: Comedy ramblings to inspire the dullest moments of your week

Blog by Stephen K Amos | 12 Aug 2009

It’s that elusive time of year again, mysteriously called summer time, when everyone looks to the sky and says 'Where’s the sun?' If you did miss the brief blast of nice weather back in May then don’t despair because for your average Brit summer is a state of mind more than a season. This August the festivals are upon us and Edinburgh is truly the place to be. I‘ll be up there comparing wellies and glamorous waterproof ponchos with hardy folk rushing from venue to venue to catch world class shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.

There’s something for everyone, though it can seem like being in the front row of a Guns’n’Roses concert circa 1989 as the city’s population swells to twice its normal size. Some of the residences of that fair city can be forgiven for making a swift exit for the highlands the moment the festival season begins. Though a few of the cannier Scots make a pretty penny by renting out their homes to weekend revellers. So why not come up and join the fun? And if you see me in the streets please come up and say hello. Don’t just point and whisper because it makes me feel like I’ve stolen something.

Amos’ DVD, Find the Funny, is released in November. For your opportunity to have a copy winging it’s way to you the moment it’s released, email competitions@theskinny.co.uk by 31 August and tell us who the lead singer of Guns ‘n’ Roses is.
