The Ginge, the Geordie and the Geek

When I hear the words 'sketch show', I can’t help but feel mildly disinterested. It's a brilliant concept, but so often done badly that I can’t help but avoid them at all costs.

However, The Ginge, The Geordie and The Geek left me pleasantly surprised. They may not have evoked hysteria in the audience, but were enjoyable to watch and I left on a definite high. The key themes are coherent and tangible, and they are clearly enjoying themselves on stage, which makes for a better audience experience.

Avoiding the common trap of coaxing cheap laughs with crude humour, they have some clever pieces based around day-to-day normality, including the beauty of counting sheep and the truth behind the lollipop lady. With a more polished performance and experience, they could even change my mind about the genre.
