The Amazing Bastards

On their own, each one of the threesome would be just average, but together they shine

Amazing - The face gag opener. The joke: 'Have you heard about the all gay, all black musical? Seven brothers for SEVEN BROTHERS.' Self-indulgent keepy-uppies while dressed as an alternative comedienne. The card trick. The rambling stories of gigs that went shit. The Bluetooth interval gag. The prizes. The donut eating competition finale with the Band Aid music. The improvised banter between the three performers and their obvious joy in just messing about.

Bastards - The guy singing the songs and playing the guitar may be talented but he sucks the atmosphere from the room. The confrontational political comedian dressed as a terrorist. And the slightly nervous, stuttering flow of a show that doesn't feel like it really knows what it's doing.

There are a ton of good bits, and a few more bad bits than I would like. But there is just so much to see here. On their own, each one of the threesome would be just average, but together they shine. It's not just a clever name. [Declan Dineen]
