Yousef - Guit Guit

The interesting addition is that of the electric guitar; like freaked-out acid trips down the fretboard

Single title: Guit Guit
Artist: Yousef
Label: Carioca
Yousef fans have been waiting for his re-emergence, and here it is: three tracks taking in wider influences of techno, acid and electronica on this digital-only release. Guit Guit (edited) is the version you will be most likely hearing, a most functional cut to just over six minutes from the original's nine and over. It begins with an assertive beat with Rolf Harris cardboard wobbles in the back, and acidic keyboard sweeping in and out. The interesting addition is that of the electric guitar, like freaked-out acid trips down the fretboard, ending with a kicking beat. The only perceptible problem is the lack of fluctuation and movement within the track - it's too easy to drown it out with your own thoughts. Yousef may have known this for himself however, later re-working Guit Guit into Re Guit, massaging in the harder techno elements of a strong beat and tech-house charm. [Struan Otter]
