Xtravaganza Mix - Mixed by Alex Gold & Pete Gooding

This compilation is sure to bring back good memories for those who've been to Space, and inspire those who haven't to make the trip

Album title: Mixed by Alex Gold & Pete Gooding
Artist: Xtravaganza Mix
Label: Xtravaganza
This compilation comprises a pair of mixes which demonstrates why the two names behind them are playing regular sets at Ibiza nightclub Space. Pete Gooding's disc is an opening set which simmers with energy and movement and despite a few risky song selections - notably Wagon Cooking's En El Barrio - generally fulfils its warm-up task without being too intrusive or intense. Alex Gold's peak-time disc is a much stronger affair, with wobbly basslines and funky rhythms in good measure. There are plenty of highlights such as the chunky, terse chords of opening track Cirez D's Horizons, and the tongue-in-cheek groove of Moody Guru's Why Can't I Be An Italian? Although there isn't a great deal of variation in these mixes, this compilation is sure to bring back good memories for those who've been to Space, and inspire those who haven't to make the trip.
