It was a complete surprise when the London sample-based psychedelic-influenced group announced that Danger Mouse was to produce their second album. But based on this slice of experimental pop, it makes complete sense. As rich and soulful as Danger Mouse’s work with Gnarls Barkley, front woman Ulrika Bjorsne simultaneously snarls and purrs over a subtle, almost hip-hop beat, laden with effects and off-beat piano melodies. Even better is the Optimo Espacio remix; a disco-influenced bomb that manages to have more energy and funk than the original. The detached vocals, dramatic crashes and threatening synth squeals come together to produce a storming track that builds up to be as sinister and intense as any horror movie soundtrack.
