Shape Shifters, Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh, 27 May

Mostly filled with a large number of people wondering how the door charge can be justified

The night starts off with a poor effort from Roy McLaren on the decks,
mixing tired and uninspiring house tracks while a room full of checkered
shirts and girls in short white skirts, gold belts and matching shoes
huddle in the corners. The evening offers up a collection of cheesy
tracks, bad dancing and awful chat up lines. Although mostly filled with a large number of people wondering how a door charge of £12.50 can be justified, the music does slide into a more upbeat tempo once the Shapeshifters begin their set, creating a more enjoyable atmosphere. The lack of originality and 'oomph' soon puts a dampener on the mood however. [Lara Moloney]
