This Scots trio have been writing and recording for the last 12 months and have an album waiting in the pipelines which is due out sometime this summer. The lads originate from all over Scotland: namely Berwick, Edinburgh and Dundee, and their music is filled with acoustic beats with a very distinctive 'indie-tronica' approach. Reason rolls along nicely and the layered vocals mid-song are a nice touch. Ian Brown's solo efforts come to mind when listening to Steppin' On. Overall it's a more sinister sound with heavy synth and beats gradually grinding to a halt. Men in Wax Jackets is a fine tune; very trip-hop, keeping things simple and proving that less really is more. One can't help but warm to this well-constructed song, pleasant bassline and keyboard use. Although perhaps a little monotone at times, on the whole Roys Iron DNA produce likeable chilled music.
