Some jaw-dropping scratching and beat-matching rounded out a set that covered electro, hip-hop, grime and rock.

Gettoblast culminated in a blistering set from Plus One, where he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he has the best showpiece mixes out of all the Scratch Perverts, along with a feel for dancefloors and set structure that would make 2 Many DJs weep in shame. Some of the mixes he dropped would be familiar to those who bought the recent Watch The Ride compilation - his fantastic collaboration with Skibbadee, Tika Toc, got an outing, as did Diplo's bootleg of MIA's Bucky Done Gun. Some jaw-dropping scratching and beat-matching rounded out a set that covered electro, hip-hop, grime and rock. The warm up act, Respek BA, acquitted thesmselves well, but for whatever reasons, Gettoblast was quiet, and suffered the same curse as so many Edinburgh hip-hop nights - everyone stood at the back nodding their heads, while a few faithful hip-hoppers clustered down the front, rhyming along with West Coast veteran Loki and his crew. Between these two crowds, there was a gulf. What's that all about, Edinburgh? [Bram Gieben]
