As the title might suggest, this album is fast-paced, eventful and doesn't let you rest for a second. 'A Lively Mind' is Paul Oakenfold's second artist album and features 12 new songs composed and created by Oakenfold himself. The album is a beautiful progression through a colourful range of songs, with interesting samples, striking vocals and strong basslines thrown into an electronic bliss, making each song memorable and individual. Oakenfold's curious choice of guest vocalists was another of the album's more pleasant surprises, with appearances from Pharrell Williams, Grandmaster Flash and Sin City star Brittany Murphy. While perhaps not the most obvious choice of female vocalist, Murphy's gritty voice lends itself well to the tone of the album. Her performance on Fast Kill Pussy Cat, the first single to be released from the album in early April, is instantly infectious and guaranteed to send you rockin'. [Marj Walters]
