Natasha England - Iko Iko

If you're into the likes of remixed Whigfield this might be you're bag but otherwise steer clear

Single title: Iko Iko
Artist: Natasha England
Label: Platform Records
Some of you may remember the classic, spirited hit Iko Iko by Natasha England from the UK top 10 in 1982. Now to mark the single's 25th anniversary, Natasha has updated the classic hit with a fresh new vocal and plethora of remixes to suit various genres, from the Phatt, eclectic radio mix to the various banging, big beat club mixes, this makes for interesting listening. There's no doubt that the production and backing tracks of the various remixes are generally good quality house, but the actual song itself and the vocals don't fit with this style of music. The entire production is a bizarre, uncomfortable mixture of quirky, dated pop meets electronic production, and the union simply doesn't work. If you're into the likes of remixed Whigfield this might be you're bag but otherwise steer clear. [Louisa Boyle]
