Mr. Copy - Minerva

Single Review by Michael Slevin | 23 Apr 2008
Single title: Minerva
Artist: Mr. Copy
Label: Soma
Release date: 12 May

Mr. Copy’s material featured on this EP is blippy, rolling and aggressive. Minerva is thumping, with jungly drums driving the pounding bass and hyper, energy-fuelled synth to a rolling climax, while it’s darker Let’s Go Outside remix touches on Mr Oizo’s ‘Flat Beat’ sound, with its curious synth stabs and chords spiralling upwardly out of control. Crysis continues the blippy theme in a more laidback and bouncing vein. The tunes are long, minimalist and repetitive, ideally suited for dancing along to with a few mates in a club, but not necessarily translating well to home listening. Fans of Soma would do well to keep Mr. Copy on their radar. [Michael Slevin]
