You can't help but feel slightly uncomfortable about the skull-rattling, bowel-worrying noise that's shaking the entire room

Milanese running through Mungo's Hi-fi's monster bass system is something of a double-edged sword. Having released one of the most intense and intriguing dubstep (concept) albums of 2006, it's an absolute honour to see him performing alongside the Doublespeak boys. At the same time, you can't help but feel slightly uncomfortable about the skull-rattling, bowel-worrying noise that's shaking the entire room. Slapping together laptop loops, samples from hot new dubplates, and the writhing electronics of Extend, Milanese's set is a devastating lesson in how to make extremity danceable. Despite touching on the furthest limits of noise; the cavernous sub-bass and high-ended, needling glitch, Milanese always brings his music back to the reggae/dancehall roots of dubstep. His set tonight culminates in an absolutely storming rendition of Caramel Cognac - with its crunchy snap-clap rhythm sending the whole place nuts - before dying down into a final blaze of ska-horns.
