Lee Van Dowski & Quenum - The Moon Above Mario's Blast

Despite the bonkers title, this doesn't really live up to expectations, and is too slow-burning to spark any great interest.

Despite the bonkers title, this doesn't really live up to expectations, and is too slow-burning to spark any great interest. Flecked with melodies from italo-house and with a cold electro underbelly, the A-side is a nice edit to slow down the pace and break up sets, but it gets boring pretty quick. The unpromisingly titled nfe punches with ten times the weight though; pumping bass and steely percussion giving way to swelling live recordings before coming back hard, culminating in the kind of straight-up kick drum action that's guaranteed to be effective.
