With Freshers' week in full swing, one feels the party tonight is somewhere else.

Po Na Na's a great venue, capturing the smooth style that Jazzy B conveys. The major problem tonight however, was that the venue was virtually empty. Jazzy B grew to fame in 80s groundbreakers Soul II Soul, and it was in this format he excelled, fusing influences from many cultures to make a pop sound that influenced a generation. Unfortunately, as a DJ he fails to recreate the excitement and edginess that his live music epitomised. He tune selection is fine; every song he plays exudes cool and soul, however none of it inspires. Initially mixing a wide range of genres including grunge and reggae, he moves on to some great mash-ups and more danceable numbers. The crowd in attendance did appear to be trying their hardest to enjoy themselves, but with Freshers' week in full swing, one feels the party tonight is somewhere else. [Luc Benyon]
