Jazzanova & Dirk Rumpff - ...Broadcasting From OFFtrack radio

An excellent offering that serves only to illustrate Rumpff's love affair with musical diversity

Album title: ...Broadcasting From OFFtrack radio
Artist: Jazzanova & Dirk Rumpff
Label: Sonar Kollektiv ALBUM OF THE MONTH CONTENDER
Though something of an unknown in the UK, Dirk Rumpff's earned his fame in his native Germany thanks to his fortnightly internet radio show. Broadcasting for eight years, OFFtrack has provided a regular showcase for his highly respected music choice that's helped him attract fans scattered across the globe. So, there's no one better placed to follow-up Jazzanova's previous radio themed outing than Rumpff and his own ...Broadcasting from OFFtrack Radio installment. Opening with the soundtrack-like feel of State River Widening's string-laden Cottonwood, the Jazzanova 'extended family' member eases through the broken soul of Season and Soultourist, before nudging things up to a head-nodding tempo with Maingirl, a futuristic-funk highlight from Trickski. The hip-hop theme is continued courtesy of Rednose Distrikt and Outlines, while a (ironically enough) beatless remix of Outlines' Listen To The Drums by Dixon provides a dramatic, edgy interlude. Next, Mark Pritchard and Clyde offer up some broken beats with vocal contributions from Steve Spacek, Capitol A and Phoebe, followed by some techy-electronica and vocal deep-house from Slope and Zoetic respectively. The remainder of this excellent offering serves only to illustrate Rumpff's love affair with musical diversity as Deyampert's acoustic Held Him First cosies up nicely with folk-tinged efforts from The Slapped Eyeballers and Hauschka; Bev Lee Harling's beautifully melancholic Life Won't Wait finally offering a suitably atmospheric climax to a mix that's almost the perfect summer soundtrack.
