Jamelia - Something About You

A bland, lacklustre pop song

After taking a break from the scene to have her second child, Jamelia returns with the first single from her new album, entitled 'Something About You'. Unfortunately for this pop princess, there really isn't something to like about this tune. Although Jamelia has obviously tried a new approach by incorporating more guitars than have featured on previous hits, this bland, lacklustre pop song doesn't have nearly enough hooks to keep the listener interested, despite only being three minutes long. A decidedly drab and unimaginative offering from someone who promised to bring so much more to the UK charts. Having secured MOBOs in the past, plus a number of catchy top ten hits, this is a disappointing turn for Jamelia. If this single is a taster for things to come on her second album 'Walk With Me', she certainly won't be collecting any more prestigious awards. [Karen Taggart]
