Dr. Octagon - 'Trees'

It's a testament to the skill of production duo One Watt Sun that the instrumental still sounds hyper, hyper dope, even without Keith's lyrics Ð twisted funk of the highest order.

Album title: 'Trees'
Artist: Dr. Octagon
Label: Buttercuts
Now out on Buttercuts (not Casual), this is one of the strongest tracks from Octagon's recent LP: a twisted mix of P-Funk, electro, and spliced and cut vocals. It's a testament to the skill of production duo One Watt Sun that the instrumental still sounds hyper, hyper dope, even without Keith's lyrics – twisted funk of the highest order. On remix duties, Ninja Tune's finest give it their all: Qemists' mix is super-hard sci-fi d&b worthy of Pendulum, while Spank Rock manage to accomplish the impossible by making Trees sound even more electro than it already was. Disappointingly, no Spank Rock rhymes on their remix – we will just have to keep dreaming about Naeem battling Keith for now. [Omar Kudos]
