Don Cash - Disco Wreck

A mish-mash of genres which doesn't quite work

Single Review by Karen Taggart | 10 Jun 2007
Single title: Disco Wreck
Artist: Don Cash
Label: Relish Recordings
Toronto-based Don Cash has been writing and producing songs since 2001, and this is his debut release on Headman's Relish Recordings label. Disco Wreck aims to incorporate electro, rock 'n' roll, and rap. However, it largely tends to disappoint instead – possibly more of an acquired taste, the beat pulsates incessantly throughout the track, but on the other hand, this could make it a hit with the clubs. Described as new-wave electro-funk-punk with a hint of rap, this release is a mish-mash of genres which doesn't quite work. Remixes from label-boss Headman and fellow Canadians Dirty 30 provide a more techno-orientated vibe, but unless you like your electro messy and confused, it's best to give this particular track a miss.
