Single title: To Cut A Long Story Short
Artist: Cazals
Label: Kitsune
This is a very sharp, punchy dance track. It's about love, but there's a real sense it's unrequited love. Somewhat downbeat lyrics are pumped up to the fore by an over-excited, hi-NRG back-beat, encouraging us to get our feet moving. The singer's voice swings from defiantly North-London-esque to devotedly Amerophile. On top of this, nothing draws an audience quicker than a nice, hook-laden guitar line. To Cut A Long Story Short offers up an absolute belter, trapping the ear before you know it. All tracks are very short and snappy, getting the feet moving but never allowing you to tire of them. To conclude, this is a bold dance track, which will also catch the ear of adventurous rock fans. [Jonathan Robert Muirhead]
