Album title: Breakthrough
Artist: Breakthrough
Label: Pantone
Breakthrough (DJ Yin, DSK Invisible and Masaya Fantasista) are a hip-hop trio hailing from Japan, hoping to bring their unique, pure approach to making music to the UK. The album tries to blend a diverse range of genres, including rap, funk, dub, jazz and break beat, creating a very chilled out sound, with laid-back rhymes and vocals. There is a definite old-school hip-hop feel to the album, although at times the mixing of different genres can sound somewhat confusing. The Breakthrough boys want the audience to "feel our sounds with your heart," and although at times this can be experimental and Outkast-esque, they offer nothing new or innovative to the hip hop scene.
