This well-rounded release that promises a sparkling future for the Blind Alphabetz

Album title: Luvolution
Artist: Blind Alphabetz
Label: Silent Soundz
There is a commitment and belief here sadly lacking in mainstream hip hop elsewhere. Lyrical subjects on Luvolution include spirituality, religion and politics; reassuring that a change from the usual hip hop declarations of false love is in progress across the scene. Performance poetry is also an influence, as evinced by the easy, unforced rhyme usage. The album has been two and a half years in the making, suggesting that it has been a real labour of love. This is especially true of tracks such as Expressions and Concrete Lands, two tracks featuring the exquisite guest vocals of Samiyah and Kyzo respectively. Much as The Orb did with their Once More single, Blind Alphabetz use these tracks to luxuriate in the genius of pure pop. In short, they know their audience. This well-rounded release that promises a sparkling future for the Blind Alphabetz. ([Jonathan Robert Muirhead]
