Baldelli & Dionogi - Cosmicdiba 2007

Inventor of the early eighties Italian cosmic disco sound, the legendary DJ Danielle Baldelli shows he's no slouch behind the mixing desk either, with his second Gomma EP. Three-tracker, Cosmicdiba 2007, serves up the driving, interstellar funk of Dark Flies, which sees a chugging, dancefloor friendly rhythm embellished with a heavy duty disco FX. Funkfibrilla drops the tempo but is all the better for it – a mid-paced groove is laced with a subtle, acidic bassline, giving it a grown-up 'Da Funk' feel. The sci-fi sound of Dyprion rounds things off with synth stabs and rising FX, giving it a suitably edgy feel. [Colin Chapman]
