Boogaloo is without doubt succeeding at its task of bringing new and diverse music to the city.

Back to the cellar for a festival feast of deep dirty and dubby electro beats. Sam Annand (aka Architeq) and his percussive partner in chimes, Scott Donald, ventured from their hometown of Dundee to knock the Edinburgh crowd sideways. Architeq's bombshell of a live set can be likened to Jackson & His Computer Band, but he's raised the bar with his rolling dub bass lines consisting of "old fat analogues and lazy off-beats." If you haven't heard the memorable success that is Birds of Prey yet, you will soon. Sam is London-bound so check him out if you get the chance, before he is lost to the urbanites. Robbie Dylan and the Access DJs also held their own, packing the dancefloor with familiar tracks and faces. Boogaloo is without doubt succeeding at its task of bringing new and diverse music to the city. [Mike Byrne]
