Thomas Schumacher @ We Are… Electric, 21 May

We Are… Electric has something good going down in Edinburgh every Wednesday of the week (yes, I know there's only one, and it's a shame), but every so-often they whip up an evening with an act from international circuits. May's special guest is Thomas Schumacher. Schumacher's music is less like Formula One, and more like a sturdy German-built cruiser driving round town with the windows down. After all, he is ein Berliner. The engine doesn't drive the sound too fast, but the cylinders spin out some phat, chunky, progressive house revolutions. Its colours are not too flashy, with some well-tuned synthesized sounds and various samples of beatboxers, songs from the 80's and 90's, and other accessories to lift it up. Edinburgh's own Tall Paul will also be spinning a refreshing (and completely different) blend of ska, garage, and rock 'n' roll. [Josh Coppersmith-Heaven]
