Sequential Launch Party, Studio 24, Edinburgh, Dec 1 and 29

Get along and show your support for the newcomers!

What better way to mark that frosty and festivity-packed month of December than with a brand new drum and bass club for Edinburgh? The scene has been a little light since the closure of several venues, so it's great to see d&b returning to Studio 24 (which has an 800+ capacity). Sequential will be launching with the bass stylings of Baron (Breakbeat Kaos/Baron Inc) with support from SlowMotion Ninja plus special guests and vocals from Harlequinade. Promoter Rowan says they'll be basing their musical style and template on the crowd's reaction, so the harder you dance and cheer, the more they'll slam the decks with tunes you'll love. Rather than the traditional MCs however, there will be a live vocalist and freestyle rapper for each event.

Baron aka Piers Bailey is a producer and DJ who has been making beats for ten years, and is currently working on a soundtrack for a new skateboarding film, as well as beginning to start work on his debut artist album. If the night goes well, Sequential expect to bring in a four-deck set up and two projectors for visuals for their next night, a 'Festive Disco' Xmas show on the 29th. Simon Bassline Smith (Technique Recordsings) has already been confirmed for a two hour set to round off the Xmas parties. Bassline is a bit of a legend, having started out in the early 1990s playing for World Dance and Perception among others, before starting one of the first D&B labels, Absolute2.
