Built for the City, The Arches, Glasgow, May 10

Something for everyone as a very different type of Arches event comes to the city.

An absolutely stunning array of musical delights in on show at the Arches this month as a three city event promoted by CAT footwear has its final leg in Glasgow. Whatever you may or may not think about the boots they make, there certainly is no doubt they know how to pick a musical line up with a Hot Chip DJ set heading up an impressive list. The last year has been a huge breakthrough for Hot Chip with the UK audience falling in love with the four piece after hits such as Over and Over from album The Warning. Their DJ sets are entertaining and unpredictable, and that can also be said for Four Tet, who joins them for a DJ set. Four Tet is the name used by Kieran Hebden, formally of Fridge. His own music is sample-infused electronica. Expect much of the same when he's behind the famous Arches turntables. Some exciting live performances add to the intriguing variety that this night offers with The Boy Least Likely To, The Archie Bronson Outfit and the Brakes all playing. The Boy Least Likely To are a laid back indie duo whose music is full of soul and superb melodies. The Archie Bronson Outfit will provide some more blues influenced rock while The Brakes will offer there short, snappy yet entertaining songs for the club crossover crowd. With Domino DJs and Psapp amongst others also on the bill a mini, one night festival is in store with plenty for everyone. [Sean McNamara]
