Music Video Premiere: Shield Patterns – 'Ruby Red'

Video | 23 Oct 2014

Ambient electronic duo Shield Patterns have unveiled the video for Ruby Red – watch it exclusively here at The Skinny.

The track is taken from Contour Lines, Claire Brentnall and Richard Knox’s first LP as Shield Patterns. We described the album as “ten songs that carry enough charge to burn a hole in your heart” – read our five-star review here.

The haunting black-and-white video was shot and edited by the band. Introducing the clip, Brentnall says: “It's about feeling out of touch with yourself, or with someone you have been close to. You don't recognise this person anymore, as if things are being kept hidden, and so they seem like a fading memory no matter how hard you try to hold on.

"The video was made with this in mind and we wanted to capture a sense of longing, with translucent images flickering then fading away."

Shield Patterns play gigs across the UK next month, including shows in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Salford. Contour Lines is out now on CD and vinyl via Gizeh Records.
