Music video premiere: Group of the Altos – Forgiveness Rules
Avant-garde twelve-piece Group of the Altos premiere the video for Forgiveness Rules, taken from their debut album R U Person or Not.
The Milwaukee natives, featuring Daniel Spack of Volcano Choir, formed in 2006, but R U Person… is just their second batch of recorded output, and their first full-length album. In our review, we dubbed R U Person... “a delicious headfuck” with “an innate ability to connect at a deep and very human level.”
The video for Forgiveness Rules, directed by Heather Hass (who just so happens to be the band's trumpet player) continues in the same vein. It pairs the track's "off-beat twitch" with images of the band’s dozen members in a kaleidoscope-like arrangement, with plenty of surreal twists and variations thrown in.
R U Person or Not is out now on vinyl and download, via Edinburgh-based Mini50 Records. Group of the Atos play The Hideout at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas on 18 Mar.
