Where?
The Ski School and The Snowboard School – Cairngorm Mountain.

What?
For those with an interest in traversing soft and crunchy frozen water at really high speeds (and let's face it, it is great fun) this is a not-for-profit ski and snowboard school (Cairngorm Snowsports) catering to tentative novices, omnipotent snowgods and all those in between.

Why?
They say that those who don’t like skiing/snowboarding are those who haven’t tried it. Cairngorm (meaning ‘blue hill’), overlooking the town of Aviemore is home to the Scotland's busiest ski resort and Cairngorm Snowsports are the only ski and snowboarding school based on the mountain. Open all day every day over winter (except Christmas Day) they run lessons and packages for all ages and abilities. These can take the form of private lessons or group lessons, or a variety of courses for beginners, improvers, performance groups, freestyle, racing, instructor training and backcountry.

How?
If travelling by road, The A9 (north and south) goes to Aviemore. After this take the B970 from the roundabout at the south of Aviemore and then continue towards Cairngorm Mountain until you get to the car park. Aviemore is well served by train and bus links.

* Christmas gift idea: Cairngorm Snowsports supply vouchers for either a specific package or lesson. For further information phone 08455 191 191 or email info@theskischool.co.uk
