What's On Scotland 6-13 Mar: Steve McQueen's Grenfell & more
Acclaimed director Steve McQueen's moving image piece Grenfell arrives at Tramway this week as part of a nationwide tour. Elsewhere, there's a new club night at SWG3 and the Catalan Film Festival kicks off across Scotland
One of the UK’s most significant contemporary filmmakers, Steve McQueen is the renowned director of the likes of 12 Years a Slave, Small Axe and Occupied City. His moving image work Grenfell is a document of the aftermath of the Grenfell fire, and the political and social neglect that it threw into relief. McQueen filmed the tower before it became covered in hoarding, seeking to make a record of the building and what it came to represent about contemporary Britain.
Originally presented at The Serpentine Gallery in London, Grenfell is now touring the country over the next two years and is stopping off at Glasgow's Tramway first. You can catch it screening between 8-23 March five times a day, with tickets free but bookable in advance.
