  • Memories of Princess Mumbi

It's the inaugural Jali Film Weekender this weekend at the Filmhouse in Edinburgh. Organised by the Jali Collective, a new grassroots collective centred on broadening access to African cinema right here in Scotland, celebrating Black, African, and diasporic films and culture through screenings and events.

Taking place 30 October-2 November, this year's edition revolves around Dreams and Apparitions. It opens with Swiss-Kenyan director Damien Hauser’s Afrofuturist film Memory of Princess Mumbi and closes with Erige Sehiri’s acclaimed Promised Sky, with a plethora of talks, workshops, shorts and screenings in between. Night Garden

Black Sabbath: The Ballet

Faeriesteria Halloween Party

For the first time ever, Jupiter Artland will remain open through the autumn and winter, lending wonder to the gloomy months. They have several new exhibitions for the season, including Georg Wilson's The Earth Exhales, a folkloric exploration of the nonhuman.

Tweed River Festival
Peebles Burgh Hall, Peebles. 31 Oct-2 Nov
There's a new festival in town (the town is Peebles). Tweed River Festival is a celebration of the River Tweed, responding to the theme of Watery Commons. There's paper making and stone sculpture workshops, film screenings, and live music over three days.
