What's On Scotland 30 Jan - 6 Feb: Sophie Duker, IVW + more
Independent Venue Week, some top-drawer stand-up comedy, and a batch of great club nights await in this week's Zap! events guide
This year's Independent Venue Week is well underway, with plenty of gigs running across some of Scotland's most beloved and iconic independent venues until 2 February. It's a really wholesome opportunity to support local bands and venues, and get a sense of what the grassroots music scene is like.
Highlights from this year's programme include Both Hands and Town Centre (pictured) at Leith Depot and Midnight Ambulance at Stirling's MacArts on 31 January, queer performance collective Saffron Cherry at Paradise Palms on 2 February, and Bog Bodies at The Hug and Pint on 30 January.
Sophie Duker: But Daddy I Love Her
The Stand, Edinburgh + Glasgow. 1-2 Feb, 5pm

Sub-Radio
Sub-Radio started out as a group of childhood friends in Washington DC and have developed into indie pop darlings playing bright and infectious pop. Their live shows are electric (so much so that they even played virtual gigs through the pandemic).
Home in Home
Transmission Gallery, Glasgow. 1-12 Feb
A community art project unravelling what home means to various Glasgow-based artists, this exhibition emerged from a series of creative workshops, in which local artists gathered and shared thoughts and experiences of making their own place called home.

A club night thrown to raise emergency funds for a member of the Glasgow B|POC community, you can find some of the best names in Glasgow clubbing here, including Babyjaii, ptk.bby, Salam Kitty, makaya and Hiba, playing everything from noughties pop to footwork.

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra are putting on an incredible and innovative programme of music: there's the vivid trumpet concerto Ad Absurdum, Widmann's playful Con Brio, and even a reimagining of classic cartoon scores.
