Look alive folks, it's time for another August festival in Edinburgh. No, come back!! We promise this one's different! Sweet, local, and – crucially – taking place over just one day across various Edinburgh music venues – Edinburgh Psych Fest is the place to be on 31 August, offering a programme of psych, rock and punk from Scotland and beyond.

There's Edinburgh punk mainstays Bikini Body, the charmingly titled New York band Bubble Tea and Cigarettes, newcomer punk rockers Cowboy Hunters, Montreal icons La Sécurité and beloved folk rock singer Nadine Shah on the programme, as well as so many more. M4 Festival
SWG3, Glasgow. 30 Aug, 3pm

Aqsa Arif: Raindrops of Rani

A short film and digital and screenprinted textiles influenced by South Asian folklore, Raindrops of Rani takes as its subject the displacement of residents from a Glasgow council block for filming as a touchstone for exploring ongoing legacies of migration, resilience and welfare. Father John Misty

Alice Faye
The Caves, Edinburgh. 28 Aug, 7pm

Club Weapon: 1990 Launch Night

There's a new club in town: 1990 has just opened on Sauchiehall Street, and to celebrate their launch – and the launch of a brand new club night – they've invited C Frame, Feena, Jenn Gunn, and Lucky Dip for the inaugural Club Weapon.
