The 19th edition of RSA's New Contemporaries opens this weekend. Elsewhere, Acolyte launch a single in Glasgow's The Old Hairdresser's and AMPLIFI returns to The Queen's Hall
Every year for the past 17 years, the Royal Scottish Academy celebrates the best of rising talent in the Scottish visual arts with New Contemporaries, an exhibition of work selected from across the country’s art school degree shows last year.
This year's show opens this weekend on 28 March and runs until 22 April. Extremely unique, New Contemporaries offers a snapshot of the cutting edge of Scottish art, from sculpture and painting to installation and moving image from some of the best and brightest (and youngest) artists working in Scotland at the moment. Chief Conductor Ryan Wigglesworth leads the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in a rare, unmissable concert performance of Debussy's only opera, Pelléas et Mélisande. This haunting opera explores love, jealousy and fate in a shadowy world. Sophie Bevan and Huw Montague Rendall star as the tragic lovers, joined by a team of world-class vocalists and the RCS Chamber Choir. An extraordinary musical experience not to be missed!
Acolyte's Moon Disaster
