If the truly so very humid weather is getting to you, head to your nearest indie cinema for a blast of air con alongside a film. Especially, we are very excited this week about the arrival of The Afterlight in Scotland.

In a time of increasingly digital artefacts, there’s something very special about a film that is a defiantly material object. The Afterlight, a stunning cinematic collage made up of fragments and glimpses of early 20th-century cinema, featuring actors who are no longer alive, exists only as a single 35mm print currently touring the UK. Over the passage of time, the film print will decay and blur until it - and the film - no longer exist.

And although we don't anticipate that happening immediately, you'll still need to hurry to your cinema to catch a glimpse of it: it's on for one night only at Glasgow Film Theatre on 27 July, and then at Edinburgh’s Filmhouse on 29 July.
