It's Record Story Day, baby! The most holy day of the calendar, in which we celebrate records, record stores, and all things indie music. Taking place this year on Saturday 22 April, head to your favourite Scottish purveyor of musical goods for great deals, live shows by local acts, and vinyl-based DJ sets to see out the evening.

Over in Glasgow, amongst others, Some Great Reward has live sets from musicians Zerrin and Blue Kanues, and DJ sets from beloved jockeys at Radio Buena Vista. Over in Edinburgh, there's charming listening sessions and live music from the likes of VoxBox Records and Thorne Records, while our top pick sees an all-dayer planned between Good Vibes in Leith and EHFM, with performances from Rachel Sermanni (pictured) and Maranta amongst others. And never fear, Dundee is also in on the action, with record store deals and live sets through the day at Le Freak Records, Thirteen Records and Assai.

The founder and creator of the acclaimed Habibi Funk label Jannis brings a (literal) spin to Middle Eastern club music, with plenty of Arabic funk, jazz and hip-hop to keep everyone moving. Alchemy Film & Moving Image Festival
Various venues, Hawick. 27-30 Apr
Four days of experimental filmmaking explore encounters of urban environments and ecology, the entanglement of fact and myth, and the speculative possibilities of labour. There are also several gorgeous moving image exhibitions, performance, and even a quiz. Image: Lou Lou Sainsbury.

Nick Evans: Ghost Sculptures
Kendall Koppe, Glasgow. 21 Apr-20 May
Distorted, anatomical sculptures interrogate ideas of representation and embodiment. Drawing on the organic stylings of twentieth-century sculpture, from Henry Moore to Barbara Hepworth, this new body of work is a striking exploration of the human form. Image: Fred Pedersen. Billy Nomates
QMU, Glasgow. 22 Apr, 7pm
Billy Nomates, the nom de plume of Bristol-based singer Tor Maries, is a No-wave, post-punk musician, known for her wry and direct lyricism, class politics, and angry, grinding riffs. Tickets are currently sold out but keep an eye out for returns on the day. Image: Courtesy of artist.

AMPLIFI
The Queen's Hall, Edinburgh. 26 Apr, 8pm
Curated by cultural critics Arusa Qureshi and Halina Rifai, AMPLIFI's lineups are the quickest shortcut to Scottish music's rising stars. This month sees Dundee musician James Liandu, Alyssa Chan from Traitors fame and indie punk singer Nyla take to the stage. Image: Kyle Wood.

FLY CLUB presents L\W/N
Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh. 21 Apr, 11pm
Cab Vol's weekly FLY Club returns this Saturday. Expect minimal, vibery house and lowkey techno as a host of regular FLY residents and Danse Le Cafe taking over the Cowgate vaults under new alias L\W/N.

The Vagina Monologues
Dundee Rep, Dundee. 21-29 Apr, various times
The classic feminist text takes on a new revival at Dundee Rep. An honest, unflinching, and often uproarious celebration of one single organ, The Vagina Monologues assembles together a vibrant collage of sexuality, desire and liberty.
