The Great Western, Glasgow’s daylong festival dedicated to some of the most exciting names in contemporary music, returns this weekend with one of their most stunning lineups yet. Taking place across the city's music venues - from Stereo to The Hug and Pint and more - on 12 November, this is a chance to see some of the year's, and the decade's, most groundbreaking musical artists in one place.

Heading the pack is Pussy Riot, whose live shows promise an electric mix of music, visual art, and definitive anger. There's also the delightful Los Bitchos, Martha Ffion and Withered Hand on the programme - grab your pass or tickets to select acts here.

Africa in Motion
Various venues, Glasgow + online. 11-20 Nov
Every Africa in Motion programme is a banger, but this edition of the film festival is really a banger. Highlights include Afrofuturist spectacle Neptune Frost, the devastating folk horror-tinged Nanny, and the desperately sexy A Tale of Love and Desire (pictured). Image: Africa in Motion.

MUNA
The Liquid Room, Edinburgh. 16 Nov, 7pm
She's one of Phoebe Bridgers' favourite musical artists - and one of ours too. MUNA specialises in a brand of indie pop that is as vulnerable as it is sparky, as yearning as it is bubbly. Now on their third studio album, the eponymously named MUNA must be heard live. Image: Moriah Berger.

Sister Radio
Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh. Until 12 Nov
Sister Radio by Sara Shawaari - the mind behind 2021 EIF runaway success Niqabi Ninja - is a vibrant, tender mediation on memory, loss, and belonging. Two sisters trapped in their flat in lockdown Edinburgh remember their childhood in Tehran - a beautiful, haunting and timely tale. Image: Fraser Brand.

Bemz
SWG3, Glasgow. 16 Nov, 7pm
Phenomenal rapper, Scottish music darling, and one of the nicest people in the business, Bemz plays his largest headline gig next week. Expect the thoughtful genre-bending and lyricism that sets his music apart, and that had him nominated for a Scottish Album of the Year Award. Image: Andy Xplore.

KNITWEAR Chanel to Westwood
Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh. Until 11 Mar
It's time to get cosy with this impressive exhibition bringing together some of the giants of 20th-century knitwear for the first time in Scotland. From 1920s Chanel jersey to 1980s Vivienne Westwood, 150 pieces chart the influence of art movements on textile design. Image: Sonia Sieff.

Push It: Charlie XCX vs Dua Lipa
Stereo, Glasgow. 11 Nov, 11pm
Two giants of pop music go head to head in this edition of Push It, Stereo's dance battle to, well, a good time. This one features Dua Lipa and Charlie XCX - actual artists may or may not (almost certainly not) be present, but either way it's a guaranteed blast.

Culture House Launch
Summerhall, Edinburgh, 17 Nov, 7:30pm
Head to the launch of Summerhall’s Culture House: headlining the evening are dreamy, alt-rock Glasgow outfit Cloth, sound artist and musician Rudi Zygadlo, with films by the team behind EIFF darling A Cat Called Dom and DJ sessions from EHFM regulars.
