There's very little in this world quite as comforting as your favourite Christmas movie and starting this weekend, Glasgow Film Theatre are putting on Christmas at GFT, with some of the biggest and best films - both new and old - on the big screen. Running over two weeks on 10-24 December at everyone's favourite local indie cinema, there's something to suit everyone's festive mood.

For an old-school treat, turn to Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan in the recently BFI-rereleased The Shop Around the Corner - the original inspiration behind 90s classic rom-com You've Got Mail - or for something a little more under the radar, charming 1940s comedy The Bishop's Wife.

The warm, cosy feelings continue with a one-off screening of Greta Gerwig's critically acclaimed family masterpiece Little Women. For something a little more subversive, head to a showing of Will Ferrell's Elf or classic action piece Die Hard. Just don't, whatever you do, ask if it's a Christmas movie.

The full programme can be browsed here and tickets are on the Glasgow Film Theatre's website.
