Summerhall, Edinburgh. 20 Feb, 9pm

A previous Skinny Northwest cover star – not to mention #5 in our Albums of 2015 list, for gem of a fourth LP Have You in My Wilderness – LA's eccentric poet laureate Julia Holter takes to a live setting for a set of her ethereal vocals and blossoming melodies, merging experimentation with pure pop sensibility. Also playing Edinburgh's Summerhall the following night. Photo: Iain Scott

Wild at Heart
St Luke's, Glasgow. 25 Feb, 6.30pm
David Lynch's Americana flavour take on the Wizard of Oz gets a screening at St Luke's this week. There's also promise of live tribute Elvis music in keeping with the film's soundtrack, and in all likelihood some sticky ribs 'n' wings from in-house foodies the Winged Ox. Check out the trailer and nab your tickets now; they're likely to shift swiftly. Elvis and Snakeskin and wings – oh my!

Baio
King Tut's, Glasgow. 23 Feb, 8pm
Brace yourself to learn of something terrifying: It's been a decade since Vampire Weekend formed and began to fill the world's charts and hearts with summery NYC indie-pop. A decade. We'll just let that sink in for a moment, before moving on to notify you of bassist Chris Baio's latest solo electronic project, produced under his surname moniker. Earmarked in our gig highlights, it's set to be the perfect consolation prize for realising we're all bloody ancient. Photo: Dan Wilton

Robert Burns is an international icon. His national pride and quick wit have become synonymous with the Scottish character itself. Set in the poet’s cherished Alloway countryside, the museum offers a unique encounter with Scotland’s favourite son. Step inside Burns Cottage where Burns was born in 1759, visit the Main Exhibition to see the world’s best collection of Burns artefacts, walk along Poet’s Path, venture into Alloway Auld Kirk, see the Burns Monument and wander over the Brig o’ Doon. Perfectly located within easy reach of Scotland’s busiest cities, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is an excellent destination for a day out.

Sweet and Lowdown
The Lighthouse, Glasgow. 21 Feb, 4pm
As expected, Glasgow Film Festival's Special Events strand was swallowed whole by the population of Scotland, selling out their atmospheric screenings of Silence of the Lambs and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ne'er fear, there are still tickets to The Lighthouse's screening of Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown. You'll have to have a dig around for your drophems and trilby hats though – it's a thoroughly dress-up affair.

Go ponder. Photo: Mihaela Bodlovic
