Creative Edinburgh Awards: The 2023 winners
Hidden Door and Loud Poets were among the winners at this year's Creative Edinburgh Awards ceremony – here's the full list of award-winners
For more than a decade, the Creative Edinburgh Awards have celebrated the best of Edinburgh's creative community, from grassroots and student projects to the people leading the way across the city. This year is no exception, with some of the most exciting and interesting people and projects from across Edinburgh honoured at this year's award ceremony at the Biscuit Factory in Leith.
Hidden Door won the Edinburgh City Award, following their successful takeover of the former Scottish Widows offices on Dalkeith Road in June which divided the space into a mixture of promenade art installations and gig spaces. The Collaboration Award goes to poetry collective-slash-production company Loud Poets for the final of their Grand Slam poetry slam at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival. Sustainable interior design studio AdesignStorie are the winners of this year's Innovation Award, while the 2023 Freelance Award goes to photographer Anneleen Lindsay.
This year's Community Award goes to Brass Blast, a project which provides young people with specialist tuition in trumpet, trombone and street drumming. Imagine If. Space – a design collective dedicated to reimagining the future of housing – are the winners of this year's Creative Startup Award, while the Sustainable Creativity Award goes to Positive Imaginings. It's a creative climate education project from Rowanbank Environmental Arts that celebrates Edinburgh's green spaces and aims to connect young people with their local environment. Visual artist Abi Lewis takes home the Leadership Award, design collective Gutter Punks snapped up the 2023 Student Award, while Cutting Edge Theatre are the winners of this year's Inclusion Award.
