He could be one of the oddest looking men in showbiz, and, yeah, maybe he is most famous for sitting on his arse in a jungle spot once occupied by Tony Blackburn, but David Gest actually seems to have some taste after all. The ex-husband of Liza Minnelli has recorded a monologue for Attic Lights’ latest single, Bring You Down.

The 'Lights, who last year were involved in a huge industry bidding war after winning a position on the T-Break stage at T in the Park, suggest that Gest is so good that his vocals on the track are up there with Vincent Price’s legendary work on Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Yes, the same David Gest who is, coincidentally, more famous for being friends with the Jackson family than his musical prowess.

Of the collaboration, vocalist Kevin Sherry appears to share The Skinny’s shock at the duet by stating that he was woken up the night prior to the TBA festival in Edinburgh and instructed to go to their producer’s house. Once there, Gest presented himself to the band, with Sherry being heard to remark afterward: "He’s the last person you expect to meet at 3am on a boozy Saturday night in Glasgow." Indeed.

Gest’s ‘rap’ will no doubt cause increased press coverage for the band [Psych! - Ed] as his lyrics delve into his relationship with Minnelli. In one line, he tells: "I never knew a woman could be so cold."

Whether Minnelli’s comeback will be marked by freestyle ad-libs on the next Mystery Jets album remains to be heard. Lets hope the hell not though, yeah?
