The Tennent's Mutual Announce 'Season One'
Following the recent announcement of warm up gigs to be headlined by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy in mid-September, further details of The Tennent's Mutual's forthcoming 'Season One' live music programme have been revealed.
Set to take place across Scotland from 18 Oct to 12 Nov, it boasts a line-up where established acts like Hot Chip, Teenage Fanclub, Sons & Daughters and King Creosote will rub shoulders with such locally and internationally up-and-coming talents as Glasvegas, Isosceles, We Were Promised Jetpacks, No Age and Copy Haho.
Elaine Forbes of Tennent's Lager elaborated on the announcement by saying: “When we launched The Tennent's Mutual five months ago, we asked Scotland's gig-goers to vote for the artists they wanted to see, and for how much, and where. We're thrilled with the outcome: a nation-wide programme devised by fans that celebrates Scotland's great pop music legacy - from Teenage Fanclub to Glasvegas - and that also embraces international names like James Murphy, Hot Chip, Laura Marling and Los Campesinos.”
Fife's folk-rock lynchpin King Creosote added: “I'm getting to support Teenage Fanclub and play both ends of the highland fault-line. Only by allowing music fans to choose what they want to hear, and where, could something like this have come about. It's genius.”
Alternative Scottish pop troubadour Malcolm Middleton also enthused: “I think the whole thing's a great idea. This way we get interesting bills, and acts that wouldn't usually appear together, in locations out-with the norm. Not everyone has the opportunity to get out and see bands in Edinburgh and Glasgow, so bringing unique packages to other towns can only be good for local music scenes, and for young bands and musicians.”
Tickets for all The Tennent's Mutual: Season One shows will be exclusively available via www.tennentsmutual.com from 3pm on 12 Sep (9am on 15 Sep for Glasvegas). Members are currently voting on ticket prices.
